By re-discovering their heritage and craft-making traditions, these artists marry materials which have been used for centuries, with innovative new techniques. Ting-Ying Gallery was founded in 2017 by Peter Ting, a ceramic and product designer, and Ying Jian, who brings his wealth of knowledge and understanding of the context of porcelain. The central focus is Blanc de Chine white porcelain, which has been produced in Dehua, China since the fourteenth century. With its rich history and the unparalleled finesse and intricacy in the making of these pieces, Blanc de Chine's living craft tradition continues to thrive today with an enriched creativity.

Whilst introducing distinguished Chinese artists and their exceptional contemporary Blanc de Chine to a global audience, the gallery also provides opportunities for international artists to immerse themselves in local culture and craftsmanship through a residency programme at Ting-Ying Studio in Dehua. Ting-Ying Gallery also highlights and rigorously re-visits important early works by established living artists within the field of craft and design.
